ATV's VS Snowmobiles
« on: September 15, 2009, 07:26:58 AM »
Would like to get involved in doing one or the other, snowmobiling or ATV but due to limited budget cannot afford both at this time. Are ATV's welcome on trails used by snowmobiles during snow conditions (assuming the snow depth allows)?

I can only speak on behalf of the Tug Hill area. Their are some seasonal roads that can be ran by both, "BUT" as the Vice President of the Tug Hill Adirondacks ATV Association we ask that ATV's stay off of groomed snowmobile trails. If the trail isn't hardf packed and you run your ATV down the trail leaving two grooves from your wheeler it makes a accident waiting as
and if the ground freezes and a sled gets caugh in your track it can cause a sled to end up side down. Som we ask that the trails be left for the sledders to enjoy in the winter months.
